The military sleep method had me designing gardens in my head

It's supposed to make you fall asleep quickly. I was wide awake planning irrigation systems instead.

Is the military sleep method really that reliable? Sounds like it just got your brain racing instead of calming down. Planning irrigation systems is detailed work, not exactly relaxing. Maybe it's not as foolproof as people say. What do you think makes it fail for some folks?

Ugh, right? What is it about trying to relax that makes your brain go into overdrive? I tried that method last week and ended up mentally designing my whole backyard garden down to the last drip hose. It felt like work! My guess is it fails when your mind actually enjoys the planning part, so instead of shutting down it kicks into problem-solving mode. If you're already stressed, giving your brain a detailed task just gives it more fuel.

You planned a whole irrigation system in your head? That's wild... I tried that sleep trick and ended up mapping out my entire shift schedule for the next month. It's like your brain grabs any task and turns it into a big project. For some folks, detailed planning just feeds their stress instead of calming it down. The method probably fails when your mind would rather solve problems than shut off.
