The snorkel gear I bought for my Cancun trip fell apart before we left the hotel
My mask strap snapped the second I put it on and the mouthpiece tasted like burnt rubber from the factory. I spent $65 on that set and ended up borrowing my sister's old gear from 2019 that worked fine. Has anyone else had vacation gear fail right out of the box or am I just cursed with bad luck?

That sucks, same thing happened to me with a cooler that broke before the ice even melted. At least you had your sister's gear to save the trip.
