My brother's 3 word advice cost me $800 at the salvage auction
My brother told me 'trust the Carfax' before I bid on a 2017 sedan at the Des Moines auction last month. I ignored it because the paint looked clean and the interior smelled fresh, so I went to $4,200. Two weeks later the transmission started slipping and the quote to fix it was $800, which was exactly what he warned me about. Do you guys trust vehicle history reports or do you always dig deeper on these auction buys?

That 'trust the Carfax' line hit close to home, my buddy bought a truck that came back clean and the frame was rusted through within a year, so I always get a mechanic to look now even if the gold sticker looks perfect.
