From boredom to a handmade spoon in one afternoon

I was stuck inside and grabbed a piece of scrap wood. After some carving, I made a spoon I can actually use. What lost skills have you tried that made you happy?

Honestly see this kind of thing everywhere now. It feels like a quiet push back against just buying new stuff all the time. There's a real shift toward fixing what you have or making something yourself, even if it's simple. Tbh that satisfaction you get from using the spoon you carved is way deeper than just ordering one. Our normal routine doesn't usually give us that kind of plain, good feeling. Ngl it's pretty nice to make something solid with your hands for a change.

You might get a great feeling from a carved spoon, but my last DIY project left me with a crooked bookshelf and hurt pride. Tbh, there's a thin line between making something solid and making kindling for your next fire. I tried fixing a leaky faucet once, and now my bathroom has a constant water show. The move away from buying new stuff is nice, but my money screams when I need tools for every easy fix. Ngl, that plain good feeling goes away quick when you're looking at a heap of broken pieces and directions that make no sense. Still, it's pretty funny how we all think we're experts after seeing a short video online.

Tried darning socks last winter. Fixing something instead of throwing it away felt weirdly satisfying.
