The river access spot that turned into a jungle in 4 months

I used to launch at the bend below the Route 9 bridge in Lansing, easy gravel bank and all. Then one spring flood in May dumped a ton of silt and now it's all cattails and mud, you can't even get a kayak within 30 feet of open water. I tried clearing a path with a machete last week and nearly sunk into the muck up to my knee. Has anyone else lost a favorite launch to one bad rain season, or am I stuck paddling an extra mile upstream for good?
