Got a weird one from a job site this week

I packed up a full can of gray primer, sealed it, and put it in my truck bed. Next morning, it was the empty can from the day before, lid still on. The full one was back on the shelf inside the house we just finished. No one else has a key. Stuff like this makes me question what I see. Anyone have a similar small, concrete thing happen?

Maybe you just grabbed the wrong can without noticing.

What if your brain made the right memory but stuck it in the wrong place? I read somewhere that context is huge for memory, like if you decide to get a soda while you're unloading groceries, your brain might file that memory with "kitchen stuff" instead of "drink choice." So later, you're sure you bought cola because you remember the decision, but your memory of actually picking it up is fuzzy or attached to the wrong event. Your hands might have just grabbed root beer while your mind was on putting away the milk. That would make you sure you got cola, even though you didn't.

I read our brains fill in details wrong when we're tired or distracted.
