Unpopular opinion: My coworkers think hand-whittling is just for kids

I brought a small whittling project to break time and got nothing but weird looks. One guy actually said it's a pointless hobby when you can buy carved decorations for a few bucks. It really bugs me because it's a calming skill that my granddad taught me, and it feels like a real connection to the past. Now I just keep my knife and wood at home to avoid the comments.

I mean, I feel this so hard. My old office gave me crap for bringing a sketchbook to lunch, like it was weird to actually do something with my hands. It's not about buying stuff, it's about making something yourself, which feels way better.

Bringing my sketchbook every day turned the weird looks into genuine interest.

Wait, he called a skill from your granddad pointless?
