My Aunt Linda and her lemon bars work the same magic... the second that pan comes out of the oven, all the "when are you getting married" talk just stops. It's like they physically can't ask a nosy question with a mouth full of shortbread crust. I started bringing a double batch of brownies to every holiday for the same reason. Now they just ask me to pass the plate instead of grilling me about my life plans. It's a pretty sweet way to change the subject.

That lemon bar trick is genius. I always bring extra so the plate stays full and the questions stay away.
