Bean brownies made me quit healthy baking swaps

I tried baking brownies with black beans to be healthier. They came out gummy and tasted a bit off. Most people swear by these swaps, but I think they ruin dessert. My hot take is that fake healthy treats are a waste of time. The mistake was skipping real ingredients for a trend. Now I just bake normal sweets and eat less. Trust me, beans do not belong in brownies.

I used to be all in on those swaps, tried chickpeas in cookie dough and avocado in frosting. The texture was always a little weird, like it was trying too hard. After one too many sad, dense desserts, I went back to a regular butter and sugar brownie recipe. Cutting a smaller piece of the real thing just hits different.

Lol I had the opposite happen. Mine turned out pretty good last time, not gummy at all. Maybe it was the recipe you used?

Overmixing the batter can make it gummy, read that somewhere.
