Changed my tune on that 'self-leveling' underlayment after a Reno job
Saw a 3/8 inch dip in a concrete slab get fixed in under two hours, which convinced me. Anyone got a different brand they swear by for really uneven floors?

So that stuff actually worked on a slab that bad? What was the brand you ended up using for that job?

Honestly, seeing it work on a slab that rough changes everything. I used to think that stuff was just for minor dips. The real trick is getting the mix right, too wet and it's a mess, too thick and it won't flow into that low spot. I'd still check it with a long level after it sets up but before it fully hardens. Makes you wonder what else I've been overcomplicating all these years.

Right when you said it makes you wonder what else you've been overcomplicating, I felt that. I've totally been there with other parts of the job. You get stuck doing things one way for so long that a simple fix seems too good to be true. It's a real eye-opener when something basic works on a big problem. Makes you want to go back and rethink all your old methods.
