My grandma insisted I learn to sew a proper dart back in 2012

She sat me down in her Chicago apartment with a scrap of wool and said, 'If you can't shape the fabric, you're just making a sack.' I ignored her for years, making boxy tops that never fit right. After maybe 50 failed projects, I finally tried her method on a linen shirt last month. The difference was huge (like, it actually fits my shoulders now). Anyone else have an old-school technique that turned out to be a game changer?

Game changer" feels a bit strong for a dart. It's a shirt, not a life hack. Glad it fits better though.

Oh come on @matthew_hart25, let people have their joy! A perfectly fitting shirt is a big win in my book.

Honestly, a good dart can totally change how a shirt feels all day. Had a tailor take one in on an old button-down and it went from sloppy to my favorite real quick. Small tweaks make a big difference sometimes.
