Tried the rubber band trick to open a stuck jar lid

Saw a hack last week about wrapping a rubber band around a jar lid for extra grip. Tried it on a pickle jar and the band snapped, sending glass shards everywhere. Why do people post this stuff without testing it first?

The real issue is nobody thinks about the band snapping and where the tension goes.

It's always the simple hacks that backfire the worst, right? People just see a quick fix and forget that sometimes the old fashioned way of running the lid under hot water actually works without turning your kitchen into a hazard zone.

honestly i’m the queen of thinking i’ve found a genius shortcut and then immediately regretting it. like one time i tried the whole “use a can to open a jar lid” thing and ended up sending the jar flying across the kitchen (and my favorite mug shattered). so yeah, i feel this in my soul. the hot water trick is boring but at least it doesn’t end with me cleaning up a mess of glass and shame.
