Pro tip: When a building manager watches over your shoulder the whole time

I was replacing a sheave wheel in an old traction elevator last week, and the building manager stood right behind me for two hours. He kept asking why each step took so long and if I was sure about the torque specs. It made me nervous and slowed me down a bit. What's your go-to phrase to nicely ask for some space without causing friction?

Oh man... I used to get so annoyed by that. But honestly now I just figure they're nervous about their building and try to talk them through what I'm doing as I go. It actually helps more than asking them to leave.

For years I'd tell people to back off, but kaibell's right. Walking them through the work step by step actually calms them down faster.

Kaibell's method really does work.
