My new door hanger got stuck between the elevator door and the frame on the 7th floor today

I was adjusting a hanger on a 40 year old Otis elevator in a Chicago high rise and the bracket slipped, wedged itself right in the gap, and it took 20 minutes with a crowbar to get it out without damaging the door track - anyone else dealt with something getting jammed in that tight space between the car and the hoistway?

That brings back some memories. A few years back I somehow got the strap of my tool bag caught between the door and the wall on the 12th floor of an old office building downtown. Must have looked ridiculous standing there tugging at it while the elevator just dinged and dinged like it was impatient with me. Eventually a security guard came by and we had to open the panel on the door to free it. Felt like a real pro that day.

Honestly I used to think stuff like that was just people not paying attention but this sounds like such a specific annoying situation. The elevator dinging at you while you're stuck there would drive me ABSOLUTELY insane.

That sounds like a total nightmare. I can't imagine having to mess with a crowbar while the elevator keeps dinging at you. Good on you for getting it out without ruining the track though.
