My local repair hub dismisses DIY fixes, but I see it differently.

Hands-on learning at home builds better skills than fear.

Forget the skills, it's about taking back control.

Sure, DIY can be fun, but it's easy to make a small problem worse. A wrong fix might lead to a fire or shock risk. Professional techs have the right tools and training for a reason.

My old Samsung fridge died two years ago. I was ready to just call someone, but a YouTube video showed how to test the compressor. I got a multimeter, found it was actually the starter relay, a fifteen dollar part. Messing it up taught me more about how the system worked than any manual could. Now I fix most of our appliances myself, and that confidence came from trying, not from being afraid to open things up.
