Just saw a report that 70% of modern appliance board failures are from power supply sections
I was reading a trade journal from the NARTE group and their data showed most issues stem from cheap caps and voltage regulators, not the main processors. It made me stop and check my usual diagnostic order on a Samsung fridge board this morning. Do you guys always start at the power input now, even if the symptoms point elsewhere?

Yeah, "bad 5v reg can make it look like a bad comm chip" is why I check all the rails first now.

Honestly that data tracks with what I've been seeing in the field. I used to chase the main controller first, but now I go straight to the power rails. What specific voltage readings do you check for on that Samsung board before you even look at the processor signals? I've found a bad 5v reg can make it look like a bad comm chip.

I always checked the processor first, but your 5v reg point totally changed my mind.
