Found a dumb law in my town about washing cars on Sundays
I was reading the town code for my city in Ohio last week and found out it's actually illegal to wash your car with a hose on Sundays before noon. Apparently some old ordinance from the 1950s to keep noise down. I tried it anyway last Sunday at 11am and my neighbor actually threatened to call the cops on me. Has anyone else run into a law like this that sounds completely made up but is real?

Gotta side with your neighbor on this one honestly. Those old laws exist for a reason even if they seem silly now, and Sunday mornings are supposed to be quiet time for people.

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head. Sunday mornings really are supposed to be that one quiet time before the week gets crazy again. It's not about being a stick in the mud, it's just respecting that everyone deserves a little peace and quiet now and then. Those old laws might seem outdated but they kind of remind us to slow down and not be so loud all the time. Your neighbor probably just wants to enjoy their coffee without the racket of a lawnmower, which is totally fair.

Yeah, I get that, @williamhill. I'm the guy who's out there with the lawnmower at 8 AM on a Saturday and I'm the first one complaining when someone else's leaf blower wakes me up on a Sunday. Total hypocrite, I know. There's something about that one morning of the week where you just want to sit on the porch with your coffee and hear nothing but birds and the occasional car going by. I think those old noise laws are a good reminder that not everyone runs on the same schedule, even if we all forget sometimes.
