Just realized that using premixed compound is way better than hot mud for finishing my basement job

I spent 8 hours mixing up 90-minute mud for my 12x14 room and it kicked off before I could get half the seams taped, but the bucket of all-purpose I snagged at Home Depot for $18 let me work at my own pace and didn't dry into a rock, so am I the only one who thinks hot mud is overhyped for small jobs?

Oh man, @laura_black31 totally nailed it, I once spent two hours trying to scrape off hot mud that hardened on my trowel while I grabbed a drink.

Premixed is way more forgiving for basement humidity changes though.

Heard a drywaller on a podcast say exactly this, that hot mud is only worth it for jobs you need to sand and paint same day. Idk, seems like for most basement stuff the premixed is just easier to deal with.
