That offshore dredge assignment cost me more in travel than pay
They sent our team to a job way out in the Gulf last spring. The boat ride alone took forever, and we hit rough seas that messed with our gear. We lost a full day just getting everything set up right again. I spent so much on extra supplies and bunk fees, it cut deep into my take-home.

Ugh, tell me about it, I once packed flip-flops for a winter site visit.

Yikes, @jennifersah that's a rough one. I read a travel blog once that said to always check the weather app for your destination, not your home city. Made sense after that. Like, my hometown could be warm but the site could be freezing. They suggested packing layers no matter what, stuff you can add or take off. Saved me from bringing just a t-shirt to a rainy conference last year.

Man, that's brutal. Those remote jobs are always a gamble. I had a friend who got stuck on a barge for three extra days because of a storm, and the company didn't cover the extra food costs. It really eats into the paycheck.
