Heard a new guy say dredging is just moving mud around, had to set him straight
I was at the shop near Baton Rouge last Tuesday and this younger operator called dredging 'glorified earthmoving.' I asked him how many times he's cleared a plugged cutterhead in 95 degree heat or had to balance a disposal line across a 40 foot levee. Until you've spent 8 hours nursing a 12-inch pump through a clay seam, you don't get to call it simple. How many of you have had to train someone who thought this job was easy?

I bet his first time swapping out a pump seal in the rain would've changed his tune real quick.

Did you ask him how many miles of pipe he's had to walk on a Sunday?

Wait, he actually asked that like it's some kind of gotcha question? That's wild.
Crawling on your knees through knee-deep mud just to reach a valve is way worse than walking any pipe on a Sunday.
You'd think someone who's actually done the work would know the difference between a tough day and just another Tuesday.
