Had a wakeup call about my LED jacket at a punk show in Portland

I was at this warehouse show last weekend, the one off Division, and some dude's cheap battery pack caught fire in the pit. His whole vest went up in smoke. That's when I realized I've been using those unprotected 18650 cells from old vape pens for my jacket's lighting rig, and if that happened to me I'd be toast. Anyone know a good source for those protected battery packs that don't cost $50?

Good way to find out that cyberpunk fashion has a whole different kind of punk to worry about. Check out these battery cases meant for power tool packs, they're cheap and way safer.

Guess the whole "form over function" thing hits different when you're holding a LiPo bomb in your hands. Hack the system before it hacks your face off, right?
