Still debating if I should re-pierce my helix or just let it close up for good
Got a helix piercing done at home 3 months ago with a kit from Amazon, and now it’s got this weird bump that won’t go away no matter how much salt soak I do. Part of me thinks I should take it out and try again later, but the other part says just keep babying it with tea tree oil and hope it settles down. Anyone else hit this wall and have a fix that actually worked?

that weird bump that won't go away" honestly sounds like it could be irritation from the jewelry or the angle of the piercing. I've noticed a pattern in life where when you try to force something to work that wasn't set up right from the start, it just keeps causing problems no matter what you do. Tea tree oil might help a little but if the piercing is crooked or the metal is cheap, no amount of soaking will fix the root issue. Sometimes the best thing for your body is to let it heal and try again later when you can get it done proper at a shop.

On the tea tree oil suggestion, you might want to be careful with that. It can actually make irritation bumps worse if it's not heavily diluted, and it's not great for fresh piercings.

Wait, you're saying there are actual shops out there that pierce with angles that bad? That's wild to me. I thought that was basic stuff they teach on day one. Stella's point about the jewelry being cheap makes way too much sense, I've seen people try to save 20 bucks and end up with bumps that last months. The whole thing around forcing a bad piercing to work sounds like a recipe for infection too. Honestly never thought about the angle causing bumps longer term but now that it's pointed out it's obvious. Kinda shocked more people don't know this.
