That cheap plastic drip tray melted after 3 uses in the sun
I bought a $12 drip tray from the big box store for under my rain barrel spigot. It looked fine for a week, but after a hot 95 degree day it warped into a sad taco shape and spilled water all over my foundation. I spent two hours digging gravel out of the mud and re-leveling the whole setup with cinder blocks. Why does nobody mention UV damage on those things in the reviews?

Yeah I had the exact same thing happen with mine, warped into a useless mess.

I read an article in a trade magazine last month that said a lot of these newer kitchen gadgets are using cheaper aluminum. The mix of heat and moisture in a dishwasher just gets to them faster than the old steel ones. I replaced my vegetable peeler three times before I found an old one at a garage sale, never had a problem since. Maybe look for one with a stainless steel body instead of the painted metal if you're shopping for a new one.
