Showerthought: Putting together a simple garden path cut my stress in half

I was feeling really wound up from everything lately, so I figured I needed a calm spot outside. My backyard was just grass, so I decided to lay down a stone path to a corner where I could sit. It took me two days to dig the lines and set the flat rocks I found. Now, I walk that path every evening after dinner, and it helps me unwind. I notice my shoulders aren't as tight, and I sleep better too. It's funny how a little hands-on project in your own yard can fix more than just the landscape.

Find two days for a project like that? I'd still be digging up turf a week later. You must work at a speed I can't even picture. Good on you for getting it done so fast.

My buddy Mark tried to rush a patio last spring, finished the whole base in a single Saturday. He was so proud of the speed, you know? Then the first big rain washed all the sand right out from between the pavers. The whole thing turned into a wobbly mess. He spent the next three weekends redoing it slowly, which sort of proves your point about taking the time. Some jobs just fight back when you hurry.

What kind of stones did you use?
