Appreciation post: I was wrong about those cheap solar garden lights
I bought a 12-pack from Harbor Freight for $20 last spring, thinking they'd be junk by August. They made it through a Chicago winter and are still going strong. Anyone have a good brand for solar path lights that can handle heavy shade?

Chicago winter survivor? That light's tougher than I am.

Nah, that light's just doing its job. It's a piece of metal and glass, it doesn't feel the cold. The real toughness comes from the people who have to go out and fix the thing when it breaks in a blizzard. Now that's a rough day.

That light probably has a better survival plan than I do... mine mostly involves complaining from under a blanket. Honestly, the cold just wins some days. Guess I'm not getting a toughness award anytime soon.
