Question about storing rice in 5 gallon buckets vs mylar bags

I'm trying to decide between 5 gallon buckets and mylar bags for a 50 pound bag of rice I got on sale for $18. Which one holds up better over 2+ years in a humid basement?

I used to swear by buckets but after dealing with humidity issues I switched to mylar and it's been way better for long term storage.

So you found humidity to be a dealbreaker with buckets too, @kim.xena? I think a lot of folks overlook that part when they first start stocking up. Mylar with oxygen absorbers really locks things tight and keeps moisture out way better than plastic ever could. Plus those buckets can get that funky smell after a while if you don't open them up to air out every year or two. Have you noticed the food stays fresher longer in the mylar compared to what you used to have in buckets? I'm thinking of doing a full switch myself after reading your experience.
