Found a roll of emergency blankets at a garage sale in Phoenix last weekend

I was driving through Phoenix last Saturday and stopped at a random garage sale near 35th Avenue. An older guy had a box of those mylar emergency blankets still sealed in plastic for $2 each, so I grabbed four of them. Got home and tested one out by wrapping it around my camping sleeping bag in the backyard overnight. It actually reflected heat pretty well, but the crinkling noise was ridiculous. Has anyone found a cheap way to quiet those things down for indoor use during a power outage?

Garage sales in Phoenix are wild for random finds, I grabbed a box of those same mylar blankets from an estate sale near Mesa last year and totally dismissed them as loud trash for months. @valw36 your fleece blanket trick is genius though, I did something similar by sliding one between two old hoodies draped over my legs during a winter power outage and it trapped heat surprisingly well without the noise issue. The crinkling still bugs me if I move too much, but stuffing it inside a pillowcase like you suggested sounds like the perfect fix for indoor use.

Used to mock those mylar blankets as gimmicky survival gear until I actually needed one during a blackout last winter. Layered it between two old fleece blankets and it kept the bedroom noticeably warmer without the constant crinkling driving me crazy. Might try sewing it inside a pillowcase to see if that muffles the noise even more next time.

My friend tried duct taping one to her mattress pad and said it worked great.
