Had to pick between a cheap hostel in Bangkok and a quiet co-living spot in Chiang Mai for my first month.
I went with Chiang Mai for $600 a month, and it's been perfect for getting my work done without distractions. The slower pace and having a real desk made a huge difference from day one. Anyone else faced a similar choice between a party city and a work-focused spot when starting out?

Yeah, @parker_park8 gets it, unlike my liver in Bangkok last year.

That Bangkok liver story is a classic, caseyc78. I actually had the opposite experience when I moved to Berlin. I picked a place known for nightlife on purpose. For me, being in the middle of the energy was the whole point, and it forced me to learn how to manage my time and find quiet corners when I needed them. Starting in a quiet spot just makes it too easy to never leave your apartment. You have to build your life around the city's rhythm, not hide from it.

Smart move picking the quiet spot. You can always visit a party city later, but trying to work in one from the start is a recipe for burnout. Getting your setup right first makes everything else easier.
