A chat in a Lisbon cafe flipped my view on slow travel

I was having coffee with a guy from Germany who's been moving every 3 months for years. He said he stays in one country for a full season to actually understand the place, not just see it. I've always jumped cities every few weeks to see more, but he said that just made him tired and he never really connected anywhere. It made me think my fast pace was just checking boxes. So I'm booking a place in Porto for the next 10 weeks to try it his way. Has anyone else switched to slower travel and found it better for getting work done?

Staying a full season to actually understand the place" is the key, right? I did the same in Mexico last year and finally got into a real work groove.

Depends. @skyler_thomas had the right idea.

My "full season" in Thailand was just me getting lost for three months straight.
