I finally looked up the exposure stats for my art account, 2 years of posting and I was wrong about everything

Tbh I always thought my most detailed piece, the dragon with the scales, was my best work. Then I checked the analytics on my showcase page and it has less than half the clicks of a sketch I rushed in 20 minutes. The sketch was just a simple line art of a cat playing with a ball of yarn. I found this out last Tuesday when I dug into the dashboard data, and ngl it made me rethink how I pick pieces for my portfolio. Has anyone else had a random quick piece outperform their polished stuff like that?

Honestly same, my stupid doodle got triple the likes of my finished piece.

I mean, is it though? Like, are we really out here measuring our worth by likes on a doodle versus a finished piece? I get it feels bad when something you actually worked on gets overlooked, but people engage with what they engage with. Half the time the algorithm is just doing random stuff, or someone's scrolling at 2am and double taps the first thing that catches their eye. That's not a statement on your art, that's just how the internet works. Maybe save the frustration for something that actually matters, like getting new eyes on your work or landing a commission. But hey, if it really bugs you that much, just post the doodle next time and call it a day.
