That cheap boost tube fitting I bought on eBay actually held up

I needed a 2.5 inch 45 degree silicone coupler for my 7.3 build and grabbed a $12 kit instead of the $50 brand name ones. After 3 months of daily driving and a few hard pulls up a grade on I-5 it hasn't slipped or blown off once. I even double clamped it like I always do but still figured it would leak by now. Kinda makes me wonder how much of the markup is just for the name on the box.

Hell yeah man, that's how it always goes with this stuff. You start to realize after a while that most of the price tag is just paying for the name and the fancy packaging. It's the same thing with tools, air filters, even oil sometimes. I've got a cheap oil filter wrench I bought for like 8 bucks that's been going strong for years while my buddy's Snap-On one snapped in half. Once you figure out what actually matters for the job and what's just marketing fluff, you start saving a ton of money. Don't get me wrong, some things you still gotta buy the good stuff for, but silicone couplers? Nah, you're fine with the cheap kit as long as you double clamp it and don't run 60 psi of boost through it.

Double clamping cheap stuff can actually crack the pipe if you crank too hard though.
