Rant: Why I ditched my old school boost gauge for a digital readout
I ran a mechanical boost gauge for 10 years on my 7.3, thought it was bulletproof. Last month it showed 8 psi at full throttle and I nearly parked the truck thinking the turbo was done, turns out the line was cracked the whole time. Swapped to a digital setup with a pressure transducer, now I get exact readings to the tenth, anyone else deal with analog gauges giving false panic?

Damn, 8 psi on a 7.3 would have me pulling over and calling a tow truck too. That fake reading almost cost you a whole weekend of chasing a ghost. I get why you made the switch, those little plastic lines get brittle and crack in the weirdest spots, and you never see it until it's too late. Digital readouts are way less dramatic, they just give you the facts instead of scaring you into thinking your truck is dying. I had a similar moment with my old mechanical oil pressure gauge, it dropped to zero and I killed the engine on the highway for nothing. Turns out the fitting was loose, but now I double check everything before I trust a needle again.
