Tried using a VPN for two weeks and suddenly my bank flagged my account
I started using a VPN last month just to stop my ISP from seeing everything I browse. After about 10 days I tried to log into my bank account and it locked me out completely. Had to call their fraud department and sit on hold for 45 minutes. The lady on the phone told me logging in from 3 different IP addresses in one week looked like someone hijacked my account. I get why they do it but it makes me feel like I'm being punished for trying to be private. Has anyone else had their bank freak out over a VPN?

Yeah "logging in from 3 different IP addresses in one week" like sorry I don't have a permanent home for my internet traffic I guess? My bank sent me a text asking if I was vacationing in three different countries at once. I wanted to tell them nah just refreshing Reddit from my couch.

The bank things been happening to me too and its honestly getting old. It feels like every company out there now thinks we're all living in one spot with one device and one routine. They flag you for anything that looks different even if its just using a VPN or your phone switching between wifi and data. Nobody seems to remember that people have lives that move around. Its like they want us to file a travel itinerary just to check our emails.
