PSA: My laptop battery died mid-save and I lost a whole morning of work

So yesterday I was typing up this big report for my boss, like 3 hours of work easy, and my old laptop just DIED on me. No warning, no low battery popup, nothing. I was so mad I almost threw the thing across the room. Turns out the battery has been swelling a little and I just ignored it. I had to redo everything from scratch using notes I scribbled on a napkin. Lesson learned: back up your stuff more often or get a new battery before it fails. Has anyone else had a gadget flake out at the WORST possible time?

And that's exactly why I never trust those "battery saver" settings, they always seem to give out at the worst times. You'd think laptops would have a better fail-safe before just crashing out like that, but here we are. I've started keeping a handwritten backup of my most important notes just in case that swollen battery decides to leave me high and dry again.

I saw a tech article saying swollen batteries are actually more common than people think, especially with older laptops. Might be worth checking yours before it gets worse.
