Told a joke about my vacuum at a party and got death stares
I said 'my vacuum sucks, just like my dating life' and this lady goes 'my son just got diagnosed with asthma from dust mites.' I didn't even know what to say after that. Has anyone else had a joke totally blow up because of bad timing?

And that's EXACTLY the kind of thing that would happen to me, I once told a joke about my cat being lazy right when someone was talking about their cat dying of cancer.

Feel awful reading that @logan205, timing like that just makes your stomach drop. It's one of those moments where you replay it in your head for way too long (even though you couldn't have known). I've definitely been there with different topics, and it never gets easier.
