At my cousin's wake last month in Columbus, my uncle thought it was the right time to tell the one about the three golfers and the nun. He got through the punchline and the room went so quiet you could hear the ice melting in the glasses across the hall. I mean, I get why that felt like the worst timing ever. But honestly, sometimes the awkward silence is exactly what a room full of sad people needs to snap out of it.
