I was at a coffee shop in Denver and saw a guy leave his laptop open on the table to go to the bathroom.

He was gone for at least five minutes, and his screen was showing what looked like a work email inbox. Anyone could have walked by and seen private info, or worse, just taken the whole machine. I almost said something when he got back, but it felt awkward. It's a basic thing, but locking your screen takes two seconds with Windows Key + L. I see this kind of stuff way too often. Has anyone else had to point this out to a friend or coworker?

Forgot to lock my screen once and came back to a cat video playing.

Honestly, it's a coffee shop, not a spy agency. Most people are just focused on their own drinks and aren't looking to steal your boring work emails. The real risk is pretty low.

That reminds me of the time my coworker left his unlocked computer and someone sent a super embarrassing email from his account. He never lived it down lol.
