A customer screamed at me for 15 minutes over a $.50 coupon glitch

I work the front desk at a hotel in downtown Phoenix and last Tuesday this woman comes in furious because her online rate didn't include a breakfast coupon she saw on some blog. She demanded I honor it even though the booking site clearly said no promos. I explained it three times and she started yelling loud enough that other guests stared. The manager finally came out and gave her a $5 credit just to shut it up. Has anyone else had a customer lose their mind over a tiny dollar amount like that?

Yeah that sounds about right. People lose their whole mind over the dumbest stuff sometimes. I had a guy once scream at me for ten minutes because his coffee was two degrees too cold and he wanted a full refund on his room. Sometimes you just gotta give them the five bucks so they'll go away and leave everyone else alone.

Whoa, wait a second. He screamed at you for TEN FULL MINUTES about coffee temperature?! That's not just dumb, that's like a whole new level of crazy I didn't even know existed. I get being grumpy and wanting hot coffee, but a ten minute rant over two degrees? That guy must have been having a really, really bad day or something. And demanding a full room refund on top of it? Man, some people really think the world owes them everything just because they can be loud.
