The coffee shop sign in Wichita that made me rewrite my villain

Last Tuesday I was killing time at a diner off I-35 and saw a handwritten sign taped to the counter: 'We don't rush good coffee, but we do rush bad excuses.' That line stuck with me for three days, and now I'm wondering if my antagonist's whole motivation is just a bad excuse wearing a fancy coat. Has anyone else pulled a random overheard quote into their writing prompt and had it flip the whole story around?
