My barista in Boise said something about my morning order that works as a writing prompt
Last Tuesday I ordered my usual coffee at 7:15am and the barista said, "You always know what you want, but you never seem happy when you get it." I laughed it off, but then I couldn't stop thinking about it. I turned it into a prompt for my writing group: "A character orders the same thing every day and is still let down by it." Six of us wrote stories from that one line, and every single one went somewhere different. One wrote about a guy stuck in a rut, another about a woman lying to herself, another about a ghost who can't move on. It's wild how one small comment turned into 3,000 words from six people. What's the strangest thing a stranger pointed out about you that stuck? I want to try turning more of those into prompts.
