Had to choose between starting my novel or rewriting the first 50 pages over again
Been stuck on this fantasy story for 8 months now. Kept going back and fixing the beginning instead of pushing forward. Last week I finally forced myself to write chapter 6 without touching anything before it. Ended up deleting three characters by chapter 8 but at least I have something. Anyone else get stuck in that rewrite loop?

@james_singh7 is right, you have to keep moving forward even if it's messy.

Yeah that rewrite loop is a trap. I did the same thing with a mystery novel last year. Spent 4 months on the first 10 pages before I realized I was just avoiding the hard parts. Bet those three characters you deleted were actually holding the story back.
