Can we talk about how a simple walk changed my writing last month?

I was stuck on a story idea in my apartment in Austin, so I walked to a park and just watched people for an hour. I saw a kid trying to fly a kite with no wind, and it gave me a whole new character for my prompt. What's the most random thing that's ever sparked a story for you?

Last Tuesday at a laundromat in Phoenix, I saw a guy carefully folding a single sock like it was a sacred ritual. That image stuck with me for days and became the opening scene for a short story about grief. It's wild how the smallest, most boring moments can unlock a whole new idea when you're just living your life.

That's such a powerful observation. It's like those tiny, quiet moments hold the biggest feelings, you know? The sock folding thing is perfect, because it's so specific and weird and sad all at once. Makes you wonder about the whole story behind it without needing any big drama. Really cool how you caught that and turned it into something.

Honestly I used to think you needed big events for ideas, but @spencer362's laundromat story and your kite kid totally changed my mind.
