Heard my roommate talking to her mom about how I "never clean the living room" and I realized she just doesn't see the stuff I do at 6am

Like, does wiping down the counters before she wakes up just not count if she's not there to watch it, has anyone else dealt with a roommate who assumes you do nothing because they never catch you doing it?

Wait, she said you "never clean" and you're literally doing it at 6am before she even gets up? That's so messed up. I had a roommate like this once, she'd complain I never did dishes but I'd wash everything at midnight because I couldn't sleep. She literally never saw it so she assumed it never happened. It's like they think if they don't witness it then it's just not real or something. Honestly it makes you feel invisible and kind of resentful because all your effort just vanishes. You should probably just leave a damp paper towel on the counter or something next time so she can't deny it.

She finally believed me when I left the new bag hanging over the can with a sticky note that said "your turn, I did this one." Makes you wonder if they'd accuse us of not breathing if they never saw us inhale.
