My grandma in Tulsa told me to save bacon grease, and now I have 4 jars in my fridge
She said it back in March when I was about to pour a whole skillet of it down the drain, and now I use it for fried rice and roasted brussels and I'm honestly running out of glass jars, so what do you all keep yours in?
Save the jars your pickles and salsa come in, that's what I do. The wide mouth ones work best because you can get a spoon or spatula down in there when the grease is cold and solid. I keep one jar on the counter for everyday use and the rest in the fridge, and I label them with a piece of masking tape so I know which grease came from what. Bacon grease is the good stuff but sausage and chicken grease work too, just know that chicken grease sets up softer and doesn't fry as well. If you fill too many jars, you can also freeze the grease in ice cube trays and pop the cubes into a zip bag, one cube is about a tablespoon which is handy for cooking. Get yourself a little mesh strainer to pour through so you don't get burnt bits in there, it makes the grease last way longer.
