Leftover cabbage from a work potluck made me a believer

I stopped at my sister's place in Denver last Tuesday and she had a whole head of cabbage from some work event, plus a half jar of pickled jalapenos and some sad carrots. She threw it all in a cast iron with a splash of soy sauce and called it 'fridge roulette,' and it honestly beat half the takeout I've had this month. Anyone else got a surprise win from random stuff that was about to go bad?
