BIM model mismatch, chose the laser scan over the architects file

I was setting up MEP clash detection on a 12 story job in Austin and the architect's Revit file had the columns 18 inches off from the as-built. I decided to trust the point cloud from the laser scanner because the steel was already up, and it saved me from having to relocate 40 sleeves on level 4. Has anyone else had to pick a side when the model and reality disagree like that?

Ngl, 18 inches off is wild. I would've double checked the scanner data like three times before trusting it over the architect's file.
