Hit 10,000 posts in a flat earth group and it flipped my own view

I joined this FB group back in March just to laugh at the flat earth people. I kept track of every debunk I posted, and last Tuesday I hit post number 10,000. That number made me actually look at my own assumptions about the moon landing footage. Turns out I was cherry picking my doubts the same way they cherry pick theirs. I got so caught up in winning arguments I never questioned my own sources. Has anyone else hit a milestone like that and realized they were as biased as the people they were mocking?

Honestly that bit about cherry picking doubts really hit home for me. I had a buddy who spent two years mocking anti-vax pages, then one day he realized he was googling "vaccine injuries" just to dunk on them and accidentally found himself down a rabbit hole he couldn't climb out of. Took him a while to admit he was doing the exact same thing, just from the other side.

That whole thing about confirmation bias is wild when you see it happen in real time. Once you're convinced of your own side's logic, your brain just starts filtering everything through that lens, even the stuff you thought you were debunking. It's like the internet makes it super easy to slide from "I'm just checking the sources" to "wait, why do I know every detail about this thing I supposedly hate?" Kinda scary how thin that line actually is.
