Had the worst stretch of days last month at my bar. Everything went wrong.

Three nights in a row, the ice machine broke, a keg kicked mid-pour on a Friday, and a dude tried to pay a $45 tab with a fake $100 bill. Anyone else have a week where it feels like the universe is personally messing with you?

That fake bill thing is the worst, but I gotta ask - did the guy stick around after you called him out or did he try to bolt? Because I've seen that play out two ways and neither one ends well for the bartender. Also, what kind of ice machine do you have where it breaks three nights running? Ours is a Hoshizaki and it'll act up if the filter hasn't been changed in six months, but three days in a row sounds like a deeper issue. Did you already call a repair guy or are you just waiting for it to die completely?

Wait, did he actually try to play it cool like nothing was wrong? I had a guy do that once with a fake $50 at a place I used to freelance for (they needed new menus, I heard the whole story). He just stood there staring at his phone while the bartender called him out, then slowly slid the real cash across the bar like it was no big deal. It was so awkward I almost felt bad for him. And yeah, three nights of ice machine trouble sounds like a ghost in the system, honestly. We had a flake machine at my buddy's bar that would konk out every time it got humid, drove everyone nuts until they replaced the whole condenser.
