I finally listened to my old boss about the bull float

He told me years ago to never use a magnesium float on a hot day in Phoenix, always stick with aluminum. I thought he was just set in his ways, so I ignored him on a 105 degree job last month. The magnesium one got so hot it started to stick and tear the surface, and I had to rework a whole section. What's the best tool you guys reach for when the sun is just baking the slab?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I've used a mag float on hot days before and just kept it wet. Maybe you just needed to move a bit faster or spray it down more. Sounds like an old-timer superstition to me.

Ever notice how every shortcut eventually costs you more time?
