Saw a guy do that once on a big garage slab, just went straight to the magnesium float after the screed. Honestly changed how I work on smaller pours now. That extra wait for the bull float can let the cream set up too much sometimes. The mag gives you way more control over that first finish pass.

Skip the middle step sometimes and it just works better.
